KIMPTON MAA-LAI BANGKOK UNVEILS “EXTRA HAPPINESS CHRISTMAS TREE”, A FESTIVE CELEBRATION OF JOY, ART, AND INCLUSION
66 paintings by 50 artists with Down syndrome light up Langsuan this holiday season
Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok celebrates the 2025 festive season with the unveiling of the Extra Happiness Christmas Tree, a unique structure celebrating creativity, balance, and the boundless joy of inclusion. Designed in collaboration with 21/3 STUDIO, Thailand’s first dedicated art space for artists with Down syndrome.
Inspired by the hotel’s deep-rooted connection to the Thai concept of lamiat, meaning that life should be approached as a work of art, this year’s tree features 66 original artworks created by 50 artists with extra chromosomes. Each painting was created as a personal expression of happiness, translated into an illuminated, mirrored display that invites guests to see themselves within the art. Find out more here.
This marks 21/3 Studio’s first-ever hotel festive collaboration, after successful pop-up showcases at CentralWorld and their debut solo exhibition at MOCA Bangkok. Founded by Jarinee Mateekul and supported by the Association for Parents of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities of Thailand (APID), the studio empowers artists with Down syndrome to express their individuality in a 200-square-metre creative sanctuary.
The Extra Happiness Christmas Tree will be on display throughout the festive season from November 24th onwards, welcoming hotel guests, local residents, and art lovers alike to immerse themselves in the warmth of the holidays, where every reflection tells a story of love, inclusion, and shared humanity.
